Turners & Growers

Imports

Turners & Growers have been importing fresh fruit and vegetables into New Zealand since approximately 1910. Since then our import business has grown substantially to include hundreds of different commodities from around the globe. Our aim is to import the highest quality product into the New Zealand market, and to be the markets first choice for imported produce.

We distribute nationally, and supply markets throughout New Zealand by utilising both the air and seaports at Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin.

Turners & Growers represents several brands in New Zealand, including international brand Bonita.

New Zealand enjoys a green reputation internationally, which we guard jealously. This therefore requires that any plant products imported into this country meet strict quarantine guidelines.

In order to facilitate this, each commodity imported is supported by a 'bilateral quarantine agreement' between the New Zealand Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MAF) and the exporting country. Importation of non-approved commodities is prohibited.

A list of currently approved commodities by country can be viewed at www.maf.govt.nz under standards/ Plants & Plant Products/ Plant Imports/ Fruit and Vegetables/ Fresh Fruit and Vegetables/ Importation and Clearance of fresh fruit and vegetables into New Zealand.
